New tech hasn’t hit us quite as hard nor as rapidly as AI. It’s no surprise that so many people are nervous. The older we get, the more uncomfortable new technology feels. Remember how 7-year-olds showed Grandad how to record and play video machines?
The difference with AI is that it is so easy for you to use to your advantage.

No Strings AI – Have a go
We’re going to take you to explore our forest, the Forest World of AI. Forest rangers are available to help you. Just ask questions, hold a conversation, or give them an instruction. Our rangers are, in real life, Anthropic’s Claude, the AI with a founding principle of being Helpful, Honest, and Harmless.
There are no lectures, classes or tests. No strings, no accounts to set up. Rangers see only what you tell them, and they forget it when you tell it to. We don’t record your personal details, other than basic data needed for monitoring website performance, and as a safety measure, all chat residues are deleted daily.
Just follow your instincts, stop whenever you want to.

What’s AI all about
AI is new to most of us. We don’t understand it. And we have heard horror stories. Some of you have already asked me whether we need it if we’re not working?
AI is everywhere, seemingly waiting to pounce. You are probably using it already, and you might nervously wonder whether it is AI or not.
Increase your AI awareness by trying out our forest, and see if you can’t sort the wood from the trees with the help of our rangers. They do have some useful answers for you, and you gain experience in using AI safely. Just type your questions and comments in reply to the rangers.
AI is a Tool, not a Solution
AI simulates many aspects of human intelligence. It searches the internet, takes in documents and instructions, processes them and produces responses. AI is capable of learning from vast amounts of information. This learning is used to process your requests. Its output is text, graphics, tables, code, new documents, or an updated database. Its quality depends upon its learning, your instructions and information you give it. Creating appropriate instructions is not complex, there are no formal structures or vocabulary. Just use plain, clear language.
Search engines like Google search the internet for key words in your search request. The results are a list of websites that are a good fit. Google provides you with an AI summary of what’s found as well. It’s no longer necessary to read from a website on the results list unless you want to. Search engines also give you an optional AI Mode for you too. You will find out more about that here later if you ask.
Experience in asking questions and providing sufficient information improves results. Often AI asks you for clarification before answering a query. Experience comes with practice. This website provides guidance and opportunities for you to practice and gain confidence before moving to fully powered AI Assistants. Please don’t be nervous, just practice here.

Claude is a highly advanced AI Assistant and a suite of Large Language Models developed by the AI research and safety company Anthropic. Similar to platforms like ChatGPT or Google Gemini, Claude is designed to act as an intelligent collaborator, helping users process information, write creative content, analyse complex data, and write code.
About our website
Our website contains a series of forest glades. We invite you to walk through the forest with our forest rangers. Glades represent aspects of AI and there’s always a ranger there ready to talk with you. Ask the rangers questions, stretch your imagination, and enjoy the conversation.
How it helps
The forest and its glades allow you to experience AI on your terms anonymously. What you type in and what you get out is not saved by the website nor remembered for long after you leave. We do count the number of people who enter each page, and the aggregated time spent. We have no opportunity to intervene in your conversations with rangers. Your feedback does matter to us and we want to improve the site for you and others as its sole purpose is to help people understand what AI is, how you can use it to your advantage, and to become more confident when you use it more and more.
Making this website with Claude
Claude and I spent a long time working on ideas. My objective is to get people who have lived through many layers of technological change to engage with another, possibly the most significant one – AI – and improve their lives as a result.
Creating a website that provided a safe online forum to explore AI anonymously was one of several ideas. Technically it is most challenging for me. I have certainly produced an unusual approach, one which I believe will suit people who are not intending to become professional AI users, but they will be able to use AI for creating real benefits for themselves as well as others.
The process took several weeks. Claude was involved at every stage. This is my first project where AI has been involved from the start. I hope you are willing and able to benefit from it.
